Gold Gains Over 1% Following Three-Week Decline in Market

    September 3, 2026

NEW YORK / RankWire.AI / – Gold experienced an increase of more than 1% on Thursday after bouncing back from its lowest point in more than three weeks. The spot price of gold climbed 1.1% to reach $4,434.70 per ounce by 04:25 GMT. U.S. gold futures saw a rise of 1.5% to $4,480.10. During the session, the dollar weakened, while U.S. Treasury yields decreased from recent multi-year highs. This rebound followed significant volatility in bullion prices during Wednesday trading.

Gold climbs over 1% after reversing three-week market drop
Precious metals recover as gold, silver, platinum and palladium post gains.

On Wednesday, gold dropped to $4,304.01 an ounce early in the session, marking a 0.6% decline at 00:17 GMT, which was its weakest level since August 7. During this period, December U.S. gold futures also fell 1% to $4,350.80. However, prices later reversed course. By 17:57 GMT, spot gold had risen to $4,376.41, and December futures closed 0.4% higher at $4,414.60. The upward trend extended into Thursday’s trading activity.

This latest move was driven by market reactions to U.S. interest rate expectations and new economic data. Traders currently see a 62% chance of a rate hike in September. The Federal Reserve will hold its upcoming policy meeting on September 15 and 16. Throughout the week, gold remained highly sensitive to fluctuations in the dollar and government bond yields. Thursday’s increase pushed bullion more than $130 above Wednesday’s intraday low.

    Gold Rebounds After Three-Week Low

Market focus also shifted to the upcoming key U.S. labor market report scheduled for release on Friday, September 4, at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics will publish the August Employment Situation report, including data on nonfarm payrolls, the unemployment rate, and other employment indicators. This report follows a series of economic releases that have contributed to notable movements in precious metals, currencies, and government bonds.

Other precious metals also recovered on Thursday after experiencing declines in the previous session. Spot silver increased by 1.2% to $66.08 an ounce. Platinum gained 1% to $1,777.79, while palladium rose 0.8% to $1,356.50. During Wednesday’s early trading, silver had fallen to $63.60, platinum declined to $1,722.23, and palladium dropped to $1,292.21 amid overall weakness in the broader precious metals market.

    Precious Metals Recapture Some Ground

Gold’s Thursday price level was roughly 3% higher than the intraday low recorded the previous day. U.S. gold futures also staged a robust rebound from Wednesday’s early decline, moving from $4,350.80 during the selloff to $4,480.10 on Thursday. These latest gains pushed gold above $4,400 after a brief dip to its lowest point since early August. Silver, platinum, and palladium also traded above their lows from Wednesday.

Several U.S. economic reports are still scheduled for release in September. Producer price data is expected on September 10, followed by consumer price figures on September 11. The Federal Reserve’s two-day policy meeting begins on September 15 and ends the following day. Gold entered Thursday with renewed momentum after a volatile two-day period. The broader precious metals complex also moved upward, recovering part of the losses incurred earlier in the week.
