Bank of America Aims to Channel $250 Billion into U.S. Infrastructure Development

    August 14, 2026

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA / RankWire.AI / – Bank of America has revealed a $250 billion plan dedicated to financing vital infrastructure projects across the United States. The initiative spans 18 months, beginning from January 1, 2026, and ending on July 4, 2027, with a focus on investments in digital infrastructure, energy systems, and essential public facilities. The bank emphasized that this effort will bolster projects related to technology, energy production, transportation, water management, and other critical sectors.

The Critical Infrastructure Finance Initiative extends beyond traditional lending approaches. Bank of America will include primary-market loans, investments, capital markets transactions, and advisory services in its tally toward the $250 billion goal. Additionally, the program encompasses banking services and supply-chain solutions associated with eligible infrastructure ventures. It supports both corporate entities and individual assets, leveraging its corporate banking, investment banking, and markets divisions to collaborate with clients seeking capital for major U.S. projects.

Digital infrastructure remains a core component of the initiative. Eligible projects encompass data centers, telecommunications networks, semiconductors, computing hardware, and related equipment. The energy segment covers both conventional and renewable energy generation, power storage, and distribution systems. Core infrastructure includes transportation, electricity transmission, grid upgrades, water systems, critical minerals, and mining activities. Bank of America also highlighted that the initiative will address increasing infrastructure demands tied to computing, manufacturing, energy supply, and domestic supply chains.

Focus on technology, energy, and vital infrastructure development

The bank stated that its Global Capital Solutions and Global Infrastructure & Sustainable Finance teams will oversee the coordination of the program, with participation from all eight business lines. Jim DeMare, co-president of Bank of America, explained that the effort concentrates on infrastructure that supports the economy, energy security, and technological progress. The bank intends to monitor qualifying transactions over the 18-month period, which will contribute to the overall $250 billion commitment.

Additionally, employment and workforce training form part of the bank’s declared objectives for the initiative. Bank of America noted that infrastructure projects can generate jobs in construction, manufacturing, technology, and ongoing operations. The bank also advocates for training programs in partnership with employers, nonprofit groups, and community colleges. In 2025, it invested nearly $40 million in over 730 workforce development partners across the U.S., focusing on skills training, education, and job readiness.

Funding efforts extend through July 2027

The bank reported that its workforce partners connected more than 90,000 individuals with jobs during 2025, while also providing training, educational opportunities, or career preparedness to over 290,000 people. These figures were provided separately from the new infrastructure financing target. Karen Fang, global head of infrastructure and sustainable finance, remarked that large infrastructure projects require coordinated financing across multiple interconnected sectors. She also serves as co-head of Global Capital Solutions.

Progress tracking will be based on eligible financial activities completed within the program’s timeframe. The bank explained that this measurement approach aligns with the framework used for its existing $1.5 trillion sustainable finance goal. The new initiative specifically targets infrastructure development and modernization efforts in the United States. The program’s conclusion on July 4, 2027, extends beyond the country’s 250th anniversary, with the bank asserting that the effort will promote infrastructure growth, job creation, economic activity, and community development nationwide.
